聖書の話（説教）
Good morning!
おはようございます！
I think most of you know me, but my name is Jonas Davison and I am a missionary from America.
ご存じの方も多いと思いますが、私の名前はジョナス・デイビソンです。アメリカから来た宣教師です。
And I want to say that your brothers and sisters in Christ who are part of the church in America love all of you at Kaihin Makuhari Grace Church and are proud of you.
そして、アメリカの教会にいるキリストに結ばれた皆さんの兄弟姉妹が、海浜幕張グレイス教会の皆さんを心から愛し、誇りに思っていることをお伝えしたいです。
They praise God for the way that you love one another, and for the way that you speak the truth to one another.
皆さんが互いに愛し合い、互いに真実を語り合っている姿を見て、彼らは神を賛美しています。
They praise God for the way you have welcomed our family with such kindness.
また、皆さんが私たちの家族をこれほど温かく迎えてくださったことに対しても、神を賛美しています。
They praise God for your faithfulness to Jesus, and even though they may never get to meet you in this life, they are looking forward to meeting you in Heaven and spending eternity together.
イエス様への忠実な信仰の歩みに、神を讃えています。そして、この地上では出会うことが叶わないかもしれませんが、天国でお会いして、永遠を共に過ごせる日を、心待ちにしています。
I have a question for the kids here today.
今日は、ここにいる子どもたちに質問があります。
Let’s imagine that every day for one month at Tokyo Disney, the King of Disney – Mickey Mouse – plans to walk around handing out big stacks of money to everyone he sees, millions and millions of yen.
想像してみてください。東京ディズニーランドで1ヶ月間毎日、ディズニーの王様——ミッキーマウス——が園内を歩き回って、出会う人みんなに何百万円もの大金を配ってくれるとしたら？
If you had a ticket to go to Tokyo Disney, do you think your whole goal for the day would be not riding any rides at all, but just to try and meet the great king of Disney, Mickey Mouse?
もし東京ディズニーランドのチケットを持っていたら、その日の君たちの目標は、アトラクションに一切乗らずに、ただひたすらディズニーの偉大な王様であるミッキーマウスに会うことだけになると思いませんか？
You would get up early in the morning, go all the way to Tokyo Disney with your parents, and wait patiently in the long line to get inside.
朝早く起きて、お父さんやお母さんと一緒に東京ディズニーランドまで行き、中に入るために長い列に並んで辛抱強く待つでしょう。
But imagine that when you finally got inside, you saw Mickey Mouse getting onto a little boat with Donald Duck and Goofy and Minnie Mouse and Pluto, and they started sailing away!
でも、やっと中に入れたと思ったら、ミッキーマウスがドナルドダックやグーフィー、ミニーマウス、プルートと一緒に小さな船に乗り込んで、どこかへ出発してしまうのを見たと想像してください！
Then you hear people in the crowd start saying, “He’s sailing to Chiba City! But the trains are not working, so if we start running now, we can still get to Chiba City and meet him there!”
すると、周りの群衆からこんな声が聞こえてきます。「ミッキーは千葉市に向かって航海しているぞ！でも電車が止まっているから、今すぐ走り出せば、千葉市に先回りしてそこで彼に会えるかもしれない！」
Would you start running with all the people around Tokyo Bay to get to Chiba City when Mickey Mouse arrived?
ミッキーマウスが到着する頃に間に合うよう、周りの人たちと一緒に東京湾の周りを千葉市に向かって走り始めますか？
Maybe it sounds crazy, but that’s what the crowd in this Bible story did to try and see Jesus!
そんなのあり得ないと思うかもしれませんが、この聖書のお話に出てくる群衆は、イエス様に会うためにまさにそのような行動をとったのです！
Maybe it seems strange, but a group of people thought there was something so important about being with Jesus that it was worth running all the way around to the other side of a really big lake to be there when Jesus arrived.
奇妙に思えるかもしれませんが、そのグループの人たちは、イエス様と一緒にいることにはそれほど大きな価値があり、イエス様が到着される時にそこにいるためなら、本当に大きな湖の反対側までずっと走っていく価値があると考えたのです。
In this passage, we see two groups of people.
この箇所では、2つのグループの人々が登場します。
The first group is “the crowd.”
最初のグループは「群衆」です。
These people were curious about Jesus.
この人たちはイエス様に好奇心を抱いていました。
They wanted to receive his healing and to hear his teaching.
彼らはイエス様から癒やしを受け、その教えを聞きたいと思っていました。
The second group is Jesus’ disciples, whom Jesus had called to follow him.
2番目のグループは、イエス様について来るように召された「弟子たち」です。
They were learning to live like Jesus.
彼らはイエス様のように生きることを学んでいました。
They trusted Jesus, and he also gave them some work to do, caring for the people who followed him.
彼らはイエス様を信頼しており、イエス様もまた、ご自身について来る人々を世話するという仕事を彼らに与えられました。
I think that this morning at KMGC we have two similar groups of people.
今朝の海浜幕張グレイス教会（KMGC）にも、同じような2つのグループの人がいると思います。
Maybe you are part of “the crowd” of Group 1: you are interested to hear more about Jesus.
もしかしたら、あなたはグループ1の「群衆」の1人で、イエス様についてもっと知りたいと興味を持っている段階かもしれません。
Maybe you want to see if there is a way that Jesus could help improve your life
もしかしたら、あなたはイエス様が自分の人生をより良くしてくれる方法があるかどうか、確かめたいと思っているのかもしれません。
Maybe you are part of Group 2: you have been called by Jesus to be one of his disciples. You are learning to live like Jesus, and you are working to care for his people.
もしかしたら、あなたは、グループ2の一員かもしれません。あなたはイエス様に召され、イエス様のように生きることを学び、イエス様の民（教会の人々）を世話するために働いています。
The main point that I want us to think about today is this: whichever group you are in, Jesus loves you and cares for you.
今日、皆さんに一番考えてほしいポイントはこれです。あなたがどちらのグループに属していようとも、イエス様はあなたを愛し、気にかけておられます。
However, he loves these two groups in different ways, because he has different goals for them.
しかし、イエス様はこの2つのグループを異なる方法で愛しておられます。なぜなら、それぞれのグループに対して異なるゴール（目的）を持っておられるからです。
His goal for people that are in Group 1 is for you to move to Group 2.
グループ1にいる人々に対するイエス様のゴールは、グループ2に移動してもらうことです。
He wants you to stop simply considering him, and start believing him.
ただ「イエス様はどうだろうか」と検討するのをやめて、イエス様を信じ始めてほしいのです。
He wants you to become one of his disciples.
イエス様はあなたにご自身の弟子の一人になってほしいと願っておられます。
His goal for the people that are in Group 2 is for you to follow him, and to become more like him.
グループ2にいる人々に対するイエス様のゴールは、あなたがイエス様にに従い続け、もっとイエス様に似た者となることです。
Let’s consider Group 1: the crowd.
では、群衆について考えてみましょう。
There are two things that show us Jesus’ love and care for this group.
イエス様がこのグループを愛し、気遣っておられることを示すものが2つあります。
First, Matthew says it very clearly in verse 14.
第一に、マタイは14節でそれを非常に明確に述べています。
Jesus saw the crowd waiting for him, and he could have stayed on the boat or turned around and left.
イエス様は自分を待っている群衆をご覧になりました。船にとどまることも、引き返して立ち去ることもできたはずです。
But Matthew wrote that Jesus “had compassion on them”.
しかしマタイは、イエス様が「彼らを深くあわれまれた」と書いています。
Compassion is a very strong word.
「深くあわれむ」というのは、非常に強い言葉です。
It’s like Jesus saw how needy and desperate the people were, and his stomach was tying itself in knots with love and pity for them.
それはまるで、人々がどれほど困窮し、必死であるかをイエス様が見て、彼らへの愛と切なさで胃が締め付けられるような思いになられたということです。
And so, the second thing happens: Jesus got out of the boat and began to heal them.
そして、第二のことが起こります。イエス様は船から出てきて、彼らを癒やし始められたのです。
He kept helping them all day, and even did an amazing miracle to feed them!
一日中彼らを助け続け、さらには彼らに食べ物を与えるという素晴らしい奇跡まで行われました！
Jesus felt compassion, and he acted in kindness and love to these people.
イエス様は深いあわれみを感じ、これらの人々に対して親切と愛をもって行動されたのです。
But what happened at the end of the day?
しかし、一日の終わりに何が起こったでしょうか？
They went home.
彼らは家に帰りました。
They went back to normal life, basically as they were before.
彼らは普通の生活に戻っていったのです。基本的には以前と同じように、
Maybe healed of a sickness, maybe with a stomach full of food, but not fundamentally changed.
病気が治ったかもしれないし、お腹がいっぱいになったかもしれませんが、根本的には変わっていませんでした。
They had an incredible experience, but they still believed the same things.
彼らは素晴らしい体験をしましたが、彼らは同じことを信じていました。
Some of us are like this crowd.
私たちの中にも、この群衆のような人がいます。
We realize our life has problems, and we want Jesus to help us with those problems.
私たちは自分の人生に問題があることに気がつくと、イエス様にその問題を解決してほしいと願うのです。
As long as Jesus or coming to church seems to be helping us, we will stick around.
イエス様や教会に来ることが自分を助けてくれているように思える間は、教会にとどまります。
We may even go a long distance from home to go to church.
教会に行くために、家から遠い距離を移動することさえあるかもしれません。
But if something else, like another religion, can help us, we want to try that too.
しかし、もし他の宗教など、別の何かが自分を助けてくれそうなら、そっちも試したくなります。
And at the end of the day, we go home and maybe we learned something, maybe we will start some better life habits, but we’re still pretty much the same.
そして結局のところ、家に帰っても、何かを学び、少し良い生活習慣を始めるかもしれませんが、私たちはほとんど以前と変わらないままなのです。
Now let’s consider Group 2: the disciples.
では次に、グループ2の「弟子たち」について考えてみましょう。
In this passage, what evidence is there that Jesus loved his disciples?
この聖句では、イエス様が弟子たちを愛しておられたという、どのような証拠があるでしょうか？
First, Jesus has already chosen them as his disciples.
第一に、イエス様はすでに彼らをご自身の弟子として選んでおられます。
Second, when Jesus gives them a job to do, and they realize they can’t do it, he doesn’t start yelling at them.
第二に、イエス様が彼らに仕事を与え、彼らが「自分にはできない」と気づいた時、イエス様は彼らを怒鳴りつけたりしませんでした。
He does a miracle, so that they can do the thing he told them to do!
イエス様は、ご自身が命じたことを彼らができるように、奇跡を行ってくださったのです！
Some of us are like these disciples.
私たちの中には、この弟子たちのような人がいます。
We believe and trust Jesus, but when we start looking around at our lives, it seems impossible to do as he asks.
私たちはイエス様を信じ、信頼していますが、自分の人生を見回してみると、イエス様が求められることを行うのは不可能に思えてしまいます。
As you have heard before, Jesus tells us that his command is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
以前にも聞いたことがあると思いますが、イエス様は、主なるあなたの神を心を尽くし、魂を尽くし、思いを尽くし、力を尽くして愛し、また、自分自身を愛するように隣人を愛しなさい、と命じておられます。
It seems impossible to have this kind of love with the little time, energy, and resources we have.
私たちが持っているわずかな時間、エネルギー、資源では、なすべきことを行うのは不可能に見えるのです。
Maybe as a child, it seems impossible to respect and honor your parents.
もしかしたら、子どもたちには、両親を敬い、尊ぶことは不可能に思えるかもしれません。
Maybe as a parent, it seems impossible to lovingly discipline your children in love and truth.
もしかしたら、親にしてみれば、愛と真実をもって子どもをしつけすることは不可能に思えるかもしれません。
Maybe as a husband, it seems impossible to love your wife the way that Jesus loves the church.
もしかしたら、夫として、イエス様が教会を愛されたように妻を愛することは不可能に思えるかもしれません。
Maybe as a wife, it seems impossible to love your husband and submit to him.
もしかしたら、妻としては、夫を愛し、夫に従うことは不可能に思えるかもしれません。
Maybe as a single person, it seems impossible to believe that single life means actually getting to experience one of heaven’s glories here in this life.
もしかしたら、独身者には、独身生活がこの地上で天の栄光の一つを実際に体験することを意味するのだ、と信じることは不可能に思えるかもしれません。
Maybe as a church member, it seems impossible to allow certain things to change (or impossible FOR certain things to change!).
もしかしたら、教会員としては、慣れ親しんだことが変わるのに受け入れること（あるいは、今まで行っていたことが変わること自体を受け入れる！）が不可能に思えるかもしれません。
Jesus told his disciples to feed 5,000 men, plus the women and children, but they only had 5 pieces of bread and two small fish.
イエス様は弟子たちに、女と子どもを除いて5,000人の男たちに食べ物を与えるように言われましたが、彼らはパン5つと小さな魚2匹しか持っていませんでした。
Christians often feel like the kind of love and truth we are asked to give to others is far beyond our capacity.
クリスチャンはしばしば、他人に与えるように求められている愛や真実が、自分の能力をはるかに超えていると感じることがあります。
So what did Jesus tell his disciples to do?
では、イエス様は弟子たちに何をするよう言われたでしょうか？
He said, “Bring what you have to me.”
イエス様は「あなたが持っているものを、わたしのところに持ってきなさい」と言われました。
And then Jesus multiplied the food they brought him, and gave it back to them so that they could give it to the crowd.
そしてイエス様は、彼らが持ってきた食べ物を何倍にも増やし、それを彼らに返して、群衆に配らせたのです。
In the same way, Jesus says to the Christian: “Bring me what you have, give it to me, and I will make it more than enough.
同じように、イエス様はクリスチャンにこう言われます。「あなたが持っているものをわたしのところに持ってきなさい。それをわたしに委ねなさい。そうすれば、わたしはそれを十分すぎるほどのものにしよう。
I will grow your ability to love.
私は、あなたの愛する力を成長させよう。
I will show you the joy of repentance and the freedom of obedience.”
私は、悔い改めの喜びと、従順の自由をあなたに示そう。」
In his book Mere Christianity, British author CS Lewis says it this way:
イギリスの作家C.S.ルイスは、その著書『キリスト教の精随』の中でこのように述べています。
“The whole offer which Christianity makes is this: that we can, if we let God have His way, come to share in the life of Christ.
「キリスト教が提示するものの全ては、これである——もし私たちが神に御心のままにさせるなら、私たちはキリストの命にあずかることができる。
If we do, we shall then be sharing a life which was… not made, which always has existed and always will exist.
もしそうするなら、私たちは、造られたものではなく、常に存在し、これからも常に存在し続ける命を分かち合うことになる。
Christ is the Son of God.
キリストは神の御子である。
If we share in this kind of life we also shall be sons of God.
私たちがこの種の命にあずかるなら、私たちもまた神の子となる。
We shall love the Father as He does and the Holy Ghost will arise in us. [Note: originally ‘the Holy Ghost will arise in us’]
私たちはキリストが御父を愛するように御父を愛するようになり、聖霊が私たちの内に湧き上がる。
He came to this world and became a man in order to spread to other men the kind of life He has…
キリストはこの命を他の人々に広めるために、この世界に来て人となられた。
Every Christian is to become a little Christ.
すべてのクリスチャンは、小さなキリストとなるべきである。
The whole purpose of becoming a Christian is simply nothing else.”
クリスチャンとなることの目的の全ては、ただそれだけである。」
If you are part of the crowd today, I hope you will remember this: Jesus is the wisest and most loving teacher there has ever been.
もし今日、あなたが群衆の一員であるなら、次のことを覚えておいてほしいと思います。イエス様は、これまでに存在した中で最も賢く、最も愛に満ちた教師です。
But he does not want you to just learn from him and go away.
しかし、イエス様はあなたに、ただ自分から学んで立ち去ってほしいとは思っていません。
What he really offers is not an improved life in this world, but to start sharing now in the eternal life of God.
イエス様が本当に与えてくださるのは、この世でより良い人生を送ることではなく、神の永遠の命に今からあずかり始めることです。
He wants you to decide in faith to become a disciple, to follow him and share in his eternal life forever.
あなたに信仰をもって弟子となる決断をして欲しいのです。イエスご自身に従い、主の永遠の命に預かって欲しいのです。
If you are a disciple today, you have that eternal life in Jesus.
もしあなたが今日、すでに弟子であるなら、あなたにはイエス様にあるその永遠の命があります。
And when it seems impossible to be faithful, to love God with everything you are and to love your neighbor as yourself, remember that Jesus can take what little you have and do more than you can imagine.
そして、忠実に歩むことが不可能に思える時は、イエス様は、あなたが持っているわずかなものを取って、あなたの想像をはるかに超えることをなさるのです。
