聖書の話（説教）

Have you ever been looking forward to a movie or book or tv show, and it finally comes out, and when you get to the end it says something like “To be continued…”?

皆さんは、楽しみにしていた映画や本、あるいはテレビ番組がようやく公開され、いざ結末を迎えたと思ったら、「続く…」といった文字が出てきた経験はありませんか。

My family likes superhero movies, and I remember going to watch the Avengers: Infinity War movie.

私の家族はスーパーヒーローの映画が好きなのですが、私は『アベンジャーズ／インフィニティ・ウォー』を観に行ったときのことを覚えています。

It’s a 3 hour movie, and when you get to the end, everything is a mess – all the characters are in trouble, and it looks like the bad guy Thanos is winning, and then the screen fades to black, and the text appeared on the screen said “Thanos will return…”

それは3時間に及ぶ映画で、ラストシーンではすべてがめちゃくちゃになります。すべての登場人物が窮地に陥り、悪役のサノスが勝利しているように見え、画面が真っ暗になると、そこには「サノスは帰ってくる…」という文字が表示されたのです。

Then we had to wait a whole year to watch the second movie and find out what happened!

それから私たちは、何が起こるのかを知るために、2作目の映画を丸一年も待たなければなりませんでした。

It made me excited and angry at the same time.

そのせいで、私はワクワクすると同時に腹立たしい気持ちにもなりました。

The interesting thing is that if I watched that movie today, it wouldn’t frustrate me so much.

興味深いことに、もし私が今日あの映画を観たとしたら、それほどイライラすることはないでしょう。

Because I know it’s Part I, and I’ve also seen Part II now, so I know how the story ends.

なぜなら、それが「第1部」であることを知っており、すでに「第2部」も観たので、物語がどのように終わるか分かっているからです。

So I can actually enjoy the movie a bit more and appreciate different details, because I know how things will end.

実際には映画をもう少し楽しみ、細かな演出を味わうことさえできます。なぜなら結末がどうなるかを知っているからです。

I have heard that there are even some people who like to start a new novel by reading the last chapter, so they can enjoy the story and not feel anxious as they read.

結末を知ることで安心して物語を楽しみ、不安を感じないようにするために、新しい小説を読むときは最終章から読み始める人さえいると聞いたことがあります。

The point is that, if we know the ending, and if it is a good ending, then we can go through all the problems and suffering of the story with real hope.

大切なのは、もし私たちが結末を知っていて、それが良い結末であるなら、物語の中のあらゆる問題や苦しみを本物の希望を持って経験することができるということです。

The same is true of the Christian life.

クリスチャンとしての歩みもまったく同じです。

If we know the end of the story that God is telling in this world, and if we can recognize where we are today in God’s story, then we can rejoice and enjoy the story even through the most difficult parts.

神様がこの世界で紡いでおられる物語の結末を私たちが知っており、その神様の物語の中で今日の自分がどこにいるのかを認識できるなら、最も困難な中にあっても、私たちは喜び、物語を楽しむことができます。

Our text today is a Psalm, which is a special kind of song that God’s people would sing together.

私たちの今日の御言葉は詩篇です。これは神の民が共に歌った特別な歌です。

And just like songs today, these songs have different purposes.

そして、現代の歌と同じように、これらの歌にはさまざまな目的があります。

Psalm 67 is a song of joyful prayer that does three things: First, it asks God to bless his people.

詩篇67篇は喜びの祈りの歌であり、3つのことを行っています。第一に、神様がその民を祝福してくださるよう求めています。

Second, it calls God’s people – like you and me – to praise and glorify God together.

第二に、あなたや私のような神の民に、共に神を賛美し、神の栄光をたたえるよう呼びかけています。

Third, it asks for blessing and calls us to worship in light of how the Christian story ends.

第三に、クリスチャンの物語がどのように終わるかに照らして、祝福を求め、私たちを礼拝へと呼びかけています。

So this psalm is actually a 3-part story.

ですから、この詩篇は実は3部構成の物語なのです。

You might notice that v3 and v5 of Psalm 67 are exactly the same: Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!

詩篇67篇の3節と5節がまったく同じであることに気づかれるかもしれません。「神よ、諸国の民があなたをたたえますように。すべての民があなたをたたえますように。」

This phrase is like a chapter marker in a book, or the chorus in a song, and helps us to see the 3 parts of the story.

このフレーズは、本の章の区切りや歌のサビのようなもので、物語の3つの部分を理解する助けになります。

We will walk quickly through the whole Psalm together, but I think the interesting thing for us to do today is to read the ending, which comes in Verse 6.

これから詩篇全体を一緒にテンポよく見ていきますが、今日私たちがすると面白いと思うのは、6節にある結末を読むことです。

It says “The earth has yielded its increase.”

そこには「地は実りをもたらしました」とあります。

It’s the only verse that seems to be talking about a story that is finished.

すでに成し遂げられた物語について語っているように見える唯一の節なのです。

Just like knowing the ending of a favorite book or movie can help you enjoy it more, I think that same idea helps us understand the meaning of Psalm 67.

お気に入りの本や映画の結末を知っていることで、それをより楽しめるようになるのと同じように、同じアイデアがこの詩篇67篇を理解する助けになると私は考えています。

Even though this author is experiencing an earlier part of God’s story, he is so sure about how God’s story will end, that he can write like it is already done.

 

この作者は、神様の物語のまだ初期の段階を生きていながらも、その物語がどのように終わるかを完全に確信しているため、まるでそれがすでに実現したかのように書くことができるのです。

 

So let’s quickly go through this story together.

この物語を一緒にテンポよく見ていきましょう。

Part 1 in v1-2 is a prayer for God’s blessing on his people.

1節から2節の「第1部」は、神の民に対する祝福を求める祈りです。

At the time this psalm was written, God’s people were only the Hebrew people of ancient Israel.

この詩篇が書かれた当時、神の民とは古代イスラエルのヘブル人のことだけを指していました。

And v2 tells us there is a purpose behind Israel wanting the blessings of God: so that God’s way may be known on the earth.

そして2節は、イスラエルが神の祝福を求めることの背後には目的があることを教えています。それは、神の道が地の上に知られるためです。

We might remember a similar line from the prayer Jesus taught his disciples: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

イエスが弟子たちに教えられた祈りの中の、「みこころが天で行われるように、地でも行われますように」という似たフレーズを思い出すかもしれません。

It is a prayer that God would bless his people so that they can walk in the way of heaven, the righteousness of God.

これは、神が彼らを祝福してくださるようにという祈りです。神の民が天国の道、つまり神の義を歩むことができるように、

Part 2 of the story is in v4.

物語の「第2部」は4節にあります。

It is a prayer that the nations would be glad and rejoice in God’s fair judgement.

それは、国々が神の公正な裁きを喜び、楽しむようにという祈りです。

Earlier, they were praying for God to smile and bless Israel, and now they are praying that people who are not Israel would rejoice in God’s judgement.

先ほどまでは、神が微笑み、イスラエルを祝福してくださるようにと祈っていたのに、ここではイスラエル以外の人々が神の裁きを喜ぶようにと祈っているのです。

The strange thing is, any nation that was not Israel during this time was under God’s judgement.

奇妙なことに、この時代、イスラエル以外のすべての国は神の裁きの下にありました。

When Israel sinned against God, he punished them for acting like those other nations.

イスラエルが神に対して罪を犯したとき、神は他の外国と同じように振る舞ったために彼らを罰せられました。

These other nations were full of evil and sin against God, so how could they rejoice in God’s judgement?

これらの異邦の国々は神に対する悪と罪に満ちていたのに、どうして彼らが神の裁きを喜ぶことができるのでしょうか。

Let me tell you a story: A few weeks ago, my family bought a car.

ここで一つ話をさせてください。数週間前、私の家族は車を買いました。

Unfortunately, our parking spot is not very close to our home, and in this area, lots of people park on the street.

あいにく、私たちの駐車場は家からあまり近くなく、この地域では多くの人が路上駐車をしています。

Technically the law says you’re only supposed to park on the street for 6 hours, but lots of people ignore that rule.

厳密に言えば、法律では路上駐車は6時間までと定められていますが、多くの人がそのルールを無視しています。

One Saturday night there was a big fireworks event, and I had parked on the street.

ある土曜日の夜、大きな花火大会があり、私は車を路上に停めていました。

I thought, “Maybe because so many people are here for the fireworks, the police will check on the street parking.”

私は、「これだけ多くの人が花火に集まっているのだから、警察が路上駐車を取り締まるかもしれない」と考えました。

So after we put our kids to bed, I went and parked the car in its proper place.

そこで、子供たちを寝かしつけた後、私は車を正規の場所に停め直しました。

When I walked outside the next morning to go to church, I started laughing and was even dancing a little bit on the way to church – because almost every car on the whole street had a parking ticket!

翌朝、教会へ行くために外へ出たとき、私は思わず笑い出し、教会への道すがら少し踊ってしまいそうにさえなりました。なぜなら、通りのほぼすべての車に駐車違反の切符が貼られていたからです！

The day of judgement had arrived!

裁きの日がやってきたのです！

I was rejoicing in the judgement of the police – because I had escaped judgement.

私は警察の裁きを喜んでいました。なぜなら、自分自身はその裁きを免れたからです。

That is how the people of other nations can also rejoice in God’s judgement.

それと同じようにして、他国の人々も神の裁きを喜ぶことができるのです。

God is angry against sin, and all people have sinned.

神は罪に対して怒りをお持ちであり、すべての人が罪を犯してしまいました。

But if we can escape God’s judgement, people like you and me will also be able to rejoice on the day of judgement!

しかし、もし私たちが神の裁きを免れることができるなら、あなたや私のような人々もまた、裁きの日に喜ぶことができるのです！

Friends, of course, you know that trusting in Jesus is the way we escape God’s judgement.

友人の皆さん、もちろん、イエスを信頼することこそが、私たちが神の裁きを免れる道であることを皆さんはご存知です。

We escape God’s judgement because he took God’s judgement for all who believe in him.

私たちが神の裁きを免れるのは、主を信じるすべての人のために、主が神の裁きを受けてくださったからです。

Can you imagine having a neighbor with a Gold driver’s license and a perfect driving record, who offers for anyone on the street that he will take their ticket to the police station and pay all the fines and get all their bad parking put on his record?

ゴールド免許を持ち、無事故無違反の完璧な経歴を持つ近所の人がいて、その通りにいる誰の違反切符でも代わりに警察署に持って行き、すべての罰金を支払い、彼らのすべての違法駐車を自分の記録に引き受けてくれると申し出てくれることを想像できるでしょうか。

That is only the tiniest taste of what Jesus has done for anyone who trusts him.

それは、イエスがご自分を信頼するすべての人のためにしてくださったことの、ほんのわずかなことにすぎません。

He not only takes our sin upon himself, but he gives us his perfect righteousness.

主は私たちの罪を身に引き受けられただけでなく、ご自身の完璧な義を私たちに与えてくださるのです。

Finally, let’s look at Part 3 in v6.

最後に、「第3部」として、6節を見てみましょう。

“The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us.”

「地は実りをもたらしました。神、私たちの神は、私たちを祝福してくださいます。」

Some scholars want to read this and say that the Israelites sang this song to celebrate harvest season.

学者の中には、これを読み、イスラエル人が収穫の季節を祝うためにこの歌を歌ったのだと言いたがる人もいます。

That may be true.

それは真実かもしれません。

But I think that it is really pointing to a different kind of harvest that Jesus talks about.

しかし私は、これが実際にはイエスが語られた別の種類の「収穫」を指し示していると考えています。

See, friends, there will be a day when God’s promises are all fulfilled and finished.

皆さん、神の約束がすべて成就し、完了する日がやがて来ます。

Just like there was a day when there were no more animals of the earth to be brought onto the boat that Noah built and God closed the door of the boat, there will also be a day when there are no more people of the earth to be brought into God’s Kingdom and God closes the gates of his Kingdom.

ノアが造った箱舟に運び込まれるべき動物が地からいなくなり、神が箱舟の戸を閉められた日があったように、神の御国に導き入れられるべき人が地上からいなくなり、神が御国の門を閉められる日もまたやって来るのです。

In Matthew 13:41-43 Jesus says that on that day at the end of the age he “will send out his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all the causes of sin and those who do lawless deeds, and throw them into the fiery furnace… Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.”

マタイの福音書13章41〜43節で、イエスは世の終わりのその日に、ご自分が「御使いたちを遣わします。彼らは、つまずきを与えるすべてのことや、不法を行う者たちを御国から集め出して、燃えさかる炉に投げ込みます。…そのとき、義と認められた人たちは彼らの父の御国で、太陽のように輝きます」と言われています。

The writer of Psalm 67 is so sure about that ending that he writes v6 as if it is already done.

詩篇67篇の作者は、その結末を確信していたため、まるでそれがすでに完了したかのように6節を書いています。

He was so sure of the ending, because the ending only depends on God’s work.

彼がこれほど結末を確信できたのは、その結末がひとえに神の御業によるからです。

It does not depend on human effort.

それは人間の努力によらないのです。

In Isaiah 46:9-11, God says “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done… I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.”

イザヤ書46章9〜11節で、神はこう言われています。「遠い大昔のことを思い起こせ。わたしが神である。ほかにはいない。わたしが神である。わたしのような神はいない。わたしは後のことを初めから告げ、まだなされていないことを昔から告げ…わたしの計画は成就し、わたしの望むことを全て成し遂げる。」

Friends, our God is the sovereign King of the Universe and there is nothing that can stop him from carrying out his plan.

友人の皆さん、私たちの神は宇宙の主権者なる王であり、何ものも、神のご計画が行われるのを阻むことはできません。

This author knew the ending, and he prayed and called us to rejoice in knowing the ending, but he had only seen Part I of the story.

この作者は結末を知っていました。彼はその結末を知っていたので、私たちに祈り、私たちに喜ぶよう呼びかけましたが、彼は物語の「第1部」しか見ることはできませんでした。

Through Jesus and the church, we have actually seen Part II.

イエスと教会を通して、私たちは実際に「第2部」を目撃しているのです。

When we rejoice and sing on Sunday mornings, we are the answer to the author’s prayer in v4: let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for God has made a way for us to escape judgement.

私たちが日曜日の朝に喜び、歌うとき、4節での作者の祈り「国々は喜び、喜び歌え」への応答が私たちなのです。なぜなら、神が裁きから逃れる道を作ってくださったからです。

Have you ever thought about the thousands of years that God’s people have been praying for this moment?

この瞬間のためだけに、神の民が何千年も祈り続けてきた！そのことについて考えたことがありますか？

Millions of God’s people for thousands of years have been praying for the days that worship of God would take place in places they couldn’t even imagine, like Japan.

何百万もの神の民が、何千年も前からずっと、彼らが想像すらできなかった場所、日本！で、神への礼拝が行われる日のために、祈ってきたのです。

This moment, Part II of the story that for so long so many people have been praying for, is happening right in front of our eyes each week.

この瞬間、非常に長い間、非常に多くの人々が祈り求めてきた、物語の「第2部」が、毎週私たちの目の前で起こっています。

No matter your circumstances today, no matter how you feel today, you being here at KMGC, rejoice!

今日、あなたがどのような状況にいても、あなたがどんな気分であったとしても、あなたがここKMGCにいることを喜びましょう！

Us right now worshipping our Triune God together, is an answer to the prayers of God’s people.

今、私たちが共に三位一体の神を礼拝していること自体が、神の民の祈りへの答えなのです。

There will be a day that Part III of the story happens, but until then we get to enjoy Part II together!

物語の「第3部」が起こる日は必ず来ますが、それまでの間、私たちは一緒に「第2部」を楽しむことができるのです！

We can let go of fear, frustration, and anxiety because we know how the story ends.

物語がどのように終わるかを知っているからこそ、私たちは恐れ、不満、そして不安を手放すことができます。

Verse 7 of today’s passage shows us the ending.

今日の箇所の7節は、私たちにその結末を示しています。

It calls on the whole world to fear God, because he will bless his people.

それは全世界に神を恐れ敬うよう呼びかけています。なぜなら、神はその民を祝福されるからです。

In Revelation 21:4 God himself speaks about that day.

ヨハネの黙示録21章4節で、神様ご自身がその日についてこう語られています。

(Note: In standard English Bibles, “Behold…” starts at verse 3, so the Japanese reflects this context naturally.)

（注：一般的な英語版聖書では、「見よ（Behold…）」は第3節から始まります。そのため、日本語訳もその文脈に合わせた表現になっています。）

He says “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

「見よ、神の幕屋が人と共にあり、神は人と共に住み、人は神の民となる。神自身が彼らと共にいて、彼らの神となられる。

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

神は彼らの目から涙をことごとくぬぐい取ってくださる。もはや死はなく、もはや悲しみも嘆きも労苦もない。最初のものが過ぎ去ったからである。」

Our hope is not in things that may come to pass, but in the promises of God that are SO true, we can be glad and rejoice today as if they have already happened!

私たちの希望は、起こるかもしれないし、起こらないかもしれないことにあるのではないのです。あまりにも真実であるために、まるでそれがすでに起こったかのように今日喜び楽しむことができる、神の約束のうちにあるのです！
